i’m answering The Call. are you?

These are lyrics from the title track of my album (The Call) I finished recording earlier this year. I wrote the song in 2005. It was inspired by the crisis in Darfur, Sudan, but it has come to represent so much more for me. ‘The Call’ is a musical beckoning to act on the compassion and benevolence that we feel for others by healing, evolving and becoming self-empowered.
I give my precious power away every time I blame others, repress my pain, guilt, shame or fear, hold grudges and refuse to forgive, take what is given to me without examination. This is what the ‘The Call’ is about: Reclaiming my power through the acknowledgment and acceptance of EVERY part of me. Only from this place can I honestly begin to heal the world. Its a personal journey that we all must take together.
I only know this to be true because this is the journey that I have consciously been on for the last 3 years. I had to let go of the pain of abandonment, the fear of rejection that grew from that, and any and every grudge I was holding against anyone and the world. I had to recognize the patterns in my relationships that were keeping me from truly being the type of person who could be useful to the world. The people with whom I relate are only mirroring me. They are the living embodiment of my beliefs about myself and the world reflected back to me.
It is my purpose to share this personal truth with everyone. I know that in some way it will ring true them. I am to let them know they are not alone on this journey. We all walk together. Look to your right and your left. We are all growing through the same things. This is how we will truly heal the world!
Self empowerment and healing will propel the world into mass mental, physical, spiritual and emotional healing. This is The Call.
